I’m Marcus Pearl and here are the stories making headlines around the world

  • U.S. President Joe Biden has unveiled a  spending plan aimed at reigniting America’s economy. The $2 Trillion Dollar spending plan is unlike anything proposed by any President since Eisenhower, calling for the repair of 20,000 miles in highways and roads, as well as 10,000 miles in bridges, as well as rebuilding schools, retrofitting and repairing two million homes and commercial apartments, modernizing public transportation by expanding rail service in under served areas, adding more bus and BRT lines to help reduce congestion, replacing lead pipeline and modernizing our nation’s water supply, and investing billions in green technology to combat climate change. The plan faces opposition from Congressional Republicans who say the plan will bring about "stagnation and decline", and some Democrats have said they would vote no on the plan unless the feds agree to reevaluate limits on State and Local Tax Deductions. Biden’s proposal mirrors that of his campaign promise to build, back, better, and if this proposal passes, could be a huge step towards fulfilling that promise.
  • In Ukraine, fears of a new escalation in the nation’s seven year war against Russia are rising as Russia has begun a massive buildup of troops along the Ukrainian border as well as in the occupied Crimean Peninsula. The fears come after four Ukrainian Soliders were killed during a shelling initiated by Russian armed service members. U.S. and Russian officials have spoken about the matter and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has reaffirmed America’s “unwavering support” for Ukraine
